Wow. This is bad news.

Sad day indeed. I own a bunch of SlySoft tools. I just used this to rip several seasons of "The Big Bang Theory". I guess if you can't actually buy DVDs/BluRays and rip them legally... the easier (and less expensive) alternative will be to torrent them. Great Job!

At least (for now) there are still alternatives.

This really sucks. I only know of a single alternative. If that one falls, I know I won't be buying anymore movies or TV Shows.
I actually wonder if that's their objective, though. Perhaps they want people to stop buying physical discs and move to subscription models. I've sworn off any additional subscriptions in my household. I'm sick of "renting" things. In my mind, it's (usually) a complete waste of money to rent something because you have nothing to show for it afterwards.

I mean why else do you go after a company (Kaleidescape) that goes out of their way to do things "right" (obtained a legal license, retains protection on disc) and caters to the highest of high end clientele? Quote:

Same applies to TV shows, most TV shows aren't high on my rewatchable meter, so it makes more sense subscribe to Cable and Netflix for those than to buy every one I'd want to watch. Plus there's the time factor, most shows don't come out on disc until well after they've aired. I agree in general, that renting isn't a great idea, but there are plenty of examples where it makes more financial sense to rent than buy. |

Sorry, I totally didn't follow that.

Clown_BD is useless without something to decrypt the disc. I believe MakeMKV and DVDFab are the only solutions for AACS/BD+. |

CloneBD is a slysoft product. Well I guess technically it was a different entity, and apparently you can still get it:
https://www.elby.ch/products/clonebd.html Although it's useless without something to decrypt. As for clonebd.com, I'd forgotten about them, and I'd be a bit leery about downloading anything from them until I see some reviews from people who have used it. To me it looks like a scam designed to leverage/confuse people based on Elby's naming scheme. Yes it can. It doesn't need anything else installed/running to do it, in fact it whines if you have AnyDVD running, saying you don't need it. |

I own a lifetime license to AnyDVD HD and it's installed on my system, but I didn't keep the last executable. Anyone have the latest one in case I need to reinstall?

I think what stranger is saying is clonedb requires a decrypter without anydvd updating most new blurays won't be decrypted anymore. When I used anydvd last (long ago) it required constant updates to decrypt new movies.
I use makemkv as well works great for blurays and dvds. If that goes away I will probably go vudu as that isn't subscription base and the picture is the best I have found in streaming (very close to bluray quality sometimes hard to tell difference at all) |

Good point but if we don't put a stop to data caps even that not going to be a much of an option before long.

A pity. I purchased a lifetime license of AnyDVD years (decade?) ago and it has been a consistent and reliable piece of software. I have nothing but good things to say about my Slysoft experience.

Ya data caps scare me and why I still have cable vs buying over vudu. Hoping they go away sooner rather than later but thst doesn't seem to be the case.
