Ebay purchase of HD300
Not too long ago, I made a purchase on Ebay for a used HD300. It was a "buy it now" or "best offer" kind of auction. I placed my best offer, and the offer was accepted. As I wait for the item to ship, I log into my Ebay account today and under "My Ebay" I look at "Purchase History." The item that I purchased shows up there, and the order total appears to be correct. When I click on the item link itself on that page, Ebay claims the item sold for about $25 more than I paid for the item.
When I called Ebay, they claimed that for this type of auction, this is normal, that the seller can report a final sales price other than what the unit actually sold for. As I have done in the past, any user can currently search Ebay for items that have already sold and view what they sold for, using this as a tool to determine the going price for an item, and bid accordingly, but it would appear this system doesn't work so well when the actual sales price may vary from the that price that is reported.
I find this situation strange. Has anyone else run into similar inconsistencies in Ebay's price reporting?
