BMT Won't Save Metadata

False Alarm- I was able to resolve this problem. The movie file was corrupt, which apparently is enough to prevent Sage/BMT from editing the .properties file.

Sorry for the vague title- I'm not really sure how to describe this.

I noticed earlier today that BMT did not pick up metadata for my Hunger Games rip. That's not particularly uncommon- I haven't done a ton of tweaking, so BMT frequently isn't able to match, but that's unusual for movies...

I went into the webGUI to manually match it. So, i found the entry, manually searched for metadata, which came up. Then I hit "save" and all the metadata went away. And no properties file was created.

At first I thought maybe BMT didn't have write access to the unRAID share. But that wasn't it- I tried adding another movie rip (the Big Short) and that one worked fine.

Here's the portion of the log showing the Big Short work, but my attempt to update the Hunger Games failed. It is odd that there's a bunch of empty fields after the filename, but I have no idea what that means. I certainly had the movie name and media type selected when I hit "save."

Looking slightly lower in this folder, I see another thread with a similar problem.

I guess the existence of that other thread doesn't bode well for me resolving this problem.

I don't necessarily mind doing a manual workaround, but I'm not really sure how to get all the data that's in the properties file.

Edit: Apparently manually editing a .properties file isn't enough to get BMT to pick it up. I tried- I basically took the Mockingjay Part 1 .properties file and just edited everything I could different values for. But, selecting that file in the BMT webGUI still shows the file having blank metadata. I find it particularly confusing because selecting the "Properties File" tab does show me the relevant data from the .properties file that I editted. Is there something special you have to do to get BMT to pick up the modified .properties file?

Edit 2: I fixed the problem. I noticed the video file didn't play on my extender. When I took a closer look, I noticed it was a few gigabytes smaller than it should have been. After recopying the file over to my unRAID array, I tried updating the metadata again and this time it worked.

I am starting to have this problem as well. It seems like all new files that I import show no Fanart and when I try to go into BMT and Find metadata when I save it says Unable to save metadata.

If I futz around a bit and manually download fanart files then eventually it will save the metadata without an error and I will get Fanart. How can I troubleshoot this? Is it possible that it is a user permissioning account with the account that sage is running under?

I tried changing the account that the Sage service is running under from Local Account to my regular sign in account and that didn't help.

How can I troubleshoot this? Where do log entries go for bmt?

Keep in mind, BMT doesn't edit properties files, or metadata, itself. It just calls SageTV apis, and the actual saving is done by sagetv. So, anytime you save and the metadata doesn't get saved, it's likely a corrupt mediafile, although I have seen this with non-corrupt files as well, but, BMT really can't do anything, since it's just calling SageTV apis.

This seems to be happening on all of my newest files for some reason. I wonder if they are somehow getting corrupted. They seem to play back ok. And after playing around a bit I can get the metadata to update.
