( im pretty new to this pvr stuff )
I'm having problems getting my sageTV to change the channel on my Dish 301 receiver. I have the USB-UIRT. What seems to happen is if i choose channel 110 ( FoodTV =P ) from the Live Guide the UIRT flashes once ( no input from reciever ) on the second flash it imputs a 1 .. then on the 3rd flash is does nothing. If i choose channels 120..121 .. 122 etc.. the receiver will not receive anything from the UIRT flashes. I have tried to program remote codes and i also have downloaded some config IR files that supposidly work with the 301 but i'm having no luck getting sage to change the channel for me. I also have installed Girder and downloaded a template for sage and learned some commands but other than that i'm at a lost. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You, greg :neukraze: |

i'm having a simlar problem - in Sage i choose channel 614, UIRT flashes thrice quickly and the receiver switches to channel 472.
I've tried from within Sage by learning the remote and also tried a template ir file. Haven't really tried to troubleshoot or play with Girder yet but i'm hoping someone will be able to save me the pain |

Re: SageTV + USB-UIRT + DISH 301 *Problems*HELP

I will select a channel, the USBUIRT will Flash 3 times. Sometimes I will get one digit of the channel appear on the STB's screen, sometimes not. I have tried re-installing the PVR250 thereby re-installing a new DEVICE for the USBUIRT with no luck. I read the thread about changing the delay in the irremote.ini file, but I think that was an old thread because the .ini file is not the same as was suggested in the thread. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this fixed? The spousal unit will start slapping me around if she misses any more of her shows.. ![]() M2S

I think you mean ir file not ini file which should be in Program Files\Frey Technologies\Common\RemoteCodes\

![]() Here is the first few lines of the file... Well, I took it as an error and I edited the 4th and 5th numbers of the first line. 600 and 800.... I tried values from 50 on up to 2000. No luck I could tell it was changed by the speed of the flashes of the UIRT, but I still got the same effect. Only one number of the three was shown from the STB.. Every once in a while, I would get 2 numbers (IE channel 322 would show 3 and 2) but that's it... It seems that 3 and 2 and 1 were the only #s that would show. For example when I did 534, nothing would show up. Same for like 675... M2S

![]() Here is how it looks... I push OK to change the channel to 344. Within about a half sec or so, I see the flashes on the UIRT. About a sec or 2 after that, a '4' appears in the channel changing box on the screen from the STB. M2S

Also, is there a way to speed up the time between when i change the channel in sageTV and the UIRT transmission to the set-top box?

As an aside to SHS, is there a thread somewhere that explains what each of the digits in that first line of the .ir file do? Thanx once again. M2S

hey guys, easy way to fix dish 301 tuning problem is to change this value in the properties file from 2 to 4.
irtune_repeat_factor= works like a charm after that. |

The reason I ask is I am wondering if Dish 301 is a generic format. I have an HTS 4500 Dish Receiver but I wonder if, for SAGE purporses, it's considered a 301. M2S

Well, I had the same problems, and that was my solution. I have a bell 3100 (same as dish 301) and had the same tuning problems you described. After a number of days trying different .ir files I came across the repeat count setting. I believe it was glbrown that found it, can't find the post. But after changing that setting in sage all my tuning problems were fixed. I believe the setting changes the frequency that the signal is sent. With that setting changed and using my original .ir file, works every time.

Unless i'm confused - am I ? probably not...maybe...
I see two solutions here - 1. add repeatcount=10 in the ir file 2. set irtune_repeat_factor=4 in the properties file Is the effect of the two approaches identical ? If yes, then i guess the ir file would be better as it allows the setting to be specific to the device ? |
