Feature Request - Recording Log

One thing that I have always wished that SageTV had was a screen or log file that shows all recordings that were made or missed and why. I believe this feature was in WMC under Recording History. Is it possible to have this added?

Some of this is in System Messages but it may be lost in the clutter of other warnings about JVM running low, etc.

There is a recording history screen in the default STV. If using v7 you might need to enable the hidden extras to see it (it's one of the Malore style menus). V9 doesn't hide the extras.

Ok, I will have to look for that. I use Gemstone - maybe Gemstone hides those as well.

You probably have to add it using the menu manager.

Tiki, I've enabled the "Malore" menus on one of my extenders, but can you step me through how I would get to a list of the shows that have been recorded, included those that were deleted and such.

I also use Gemstone on most of my extenders and I'm afraid I'm not sharp enough to figure out where to find this.

TV -> Custom Menus -> Viewing History. I'm not sure if that will show things you recorded and deleted without watching.

Yes, this is the screen I was thinking of. Though I realize now that it may not do exactly what it he OP was hoping for.

Ultimately, one of the best places for this, for user friendliness, would probably be in the Web Interface, possibly under SageTV > Recordings. Not only would this present recorded shows still on the server, but a complete recording history, with an additional column (or columns) describing the state of the show [file] - watched/deleted/unknown/archived/etc, along with the date of the action.

That said, this probably doesn't help the OP here, as this solution would be presenting SageTV events, and the OP is indicating that SageTV didn't throw any error, and may not know what happened to the file (or else). Solving that problem would probably require enabling debug logging, and manually watching for the problem to present itself again so that you can dig through the log and see if you can figure out what happened to the lost recording.
