Echo / Dot users: this sounds bad - Amazon to run ads?

I guess it was just a matter of time. I use a Dot with Logitech Harmony for multiple device (Sage included) control. Not sure I want to be sold anything while doing so: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/02/amaz...oduct-ads.html

I hope this doesn't happen. I tried a Fire a while back and got real tired real fast of it trying to sell me things.

It seems mainly targetted at people using Alexa to buy stuff. The closest I come to that is asking Alexa to put stuff on my shopping list 95%+ of my Alexa usage is to control Home Automation or play music.

Same for me. Shopping list, To Do list, playing music (via Sonos), weather forecast, and news headlines are about 99% of my usage. The other 1% is me or the kids asking her goofy questions hoping to hear a witty reply

As long as she doesn’t ask me to buy the latest Bieber tracks when I tell her to play Schitt’s Creek
