Early History of SageTV

I posted this in a different thread but for those interested in the history of SageTV up to 2009 here is an interview posted on a blog in the middle of 2009.

Very interesting article. Also interesting to note that this interview was almost exactly two years before the sale to Google.

It would be interesting to get an update 8.5 years later.

In case anyone missed it, Narflex wrote a very interesting historical technical overview of Sage on the github page: SageTV History (Good Architectural Overview)

Mine definitely was, and you predate me by a few months.

I remember agonizing over SageTV vs BeyondTV. While BeyondTV had a much better UI, I remember really wanting support for multiple tuners (even though I didn't make use of that for several years). I'm not sure if BeyondTV had clients at that point, either, and I did make use of that right away.

This was before Sage had nationwide EPG data. So, I had to use XMLTV for the first few months. Except for being slow, I remember it worked surprisingly well once I got it set up.
