Request for instructions on how to setup Comskip in linux

I know you have it incorporated in the Docker version, but I would like to use it with straight Linux install. I am using LinuxMint 18.3. Any chance of getting a walk through for this? I have wine installed but I cant seem to get everything working correctly.

Does this help... It's the script that is used in the docker container for setting up comskip.

https://github.com/stuckless/sagetv-...pgrade-comskip

and the binary and default ini is here

i may try this again, but have attempted it in the past, and ended up just going with Wine + Windows version, under Ubuntu.

I hated doing this when there was a native version available, but i couldn't seem to get it to run.

will be interested to hear if you get it going without too much pain.

I can't imagine how it wouldn't work. The SageTV "unRAID" image is just a ubuntu image but with scripts that setup everything instead of manually doing all those confiugurations by hand.

I think that I tried to do it by hand, which was probably my downfall.

Setting up sagetv is not trivial, and definately doesn't get easiler on linux That's why I ended going with the Docker setup, which I would have used anyways, even if I didn't go to unRAID. In fact, for testing, I run the same docker container as I do for unRAID, except i run it from the commandline on my ubuntu desktop.

You can checkout the shell script here, that I use, locally.

https://github.com/stuckless/sagetv-...nServerTest.sh

the -v mappings are basically mapping my local directories where I have media, etc, to paths inside the docker container.

It shouldn't be hard to run native comskip. The latest plugin contains everything you need except the actual comskip executable.

Go to the plugin config options and make sure you select "Run comskip natively".

okay I built the linux comskip using buildcomskip.sh file & copied it over to the commercialdetector file in sagetv server. Not sure how to configure the plugin settings other than setting to use native comskip as true.

What do i do with the 2 entries that point to comskip.exe & comskip.ini?
Other than that the only thing I can think of is making sure permissions are correct.

What about accessing the taped .mpg & .properties files it needs to access? How is that done? I am only going by what I know from windows version, how it works. is that already handled in code?

Since the docker containers do all this in a scripted way, the scripts there are a great place to figure out how to configure this.

Check out this script.
