Backing out of Gemstone

I took a wrong turn down Gemstone 'Lane', realized I didn't want to use it, and after a 15-point turn, disabled it, or so I thought. I'm back to my malore menus, but with a couple artifacts:

There's a weather icon in my top row displaying 'null dF'. From reading the Weather megathread

I assume this no longer works? Either way, is there a simple way to get rid of the 'null' display on the top?

Each recording now has an accompanying properties file associated with it. This is more of a curiosity, so my only concern is whether this will affect any metadata w/in the recording file?

Well, I'm not going to worry about it. All my imported videos now get their properites files automatically filled with metadata, where I was manually doing each one before. Case closed.
