Dabby - The cable of streaming services

Originally Dabby built a device to aggregate streaming services. They have changed their business model to a membership platform. You get the device, broadcast channels, cable channels and streaming services for a monthly fee of $99.

That sounds like a collection of free stuff put together with a streaming service.

Actually the channel list is much better than cable.

Netflix, Disney, Showtime, Hulu, HBO Max, Starz, Cinemax, Shudder, EPIX, AMC Premiere, Sundance Now, Urban Movie Channel, Acorn TV

Plus broadcast and cable channels list Bravo, A&E, ESPN, FX, SyFy, TNT, etc

Dabby is an interesting concept. I balked at first at the $99/mo cost, but looking at the service it doesn't seem that bad of a price. To be clear, according to Dabby you get all of those channels (including premium channels like NetflixDisney+, Hulu, Showtime, HBO Max, etc) without paying each service individually. So it's not $99/mo PLUS Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, etc - it's just $99/mo period.

I have to wonder if Dabby then subscribes to all those services, or if they are pulling content off the services somehow. If it is the later, I don't think Dabby will be around for very long. It will be interesting to watch this evolve for sure.

Their webpage says you do not need individual logins for the premium services, so I am sure they are doing the same thing as cable companies and just acting as a reseller.

But the question is how would you record OTA and cable channels?

Now if they had an option to select only certain services, it would be more enticing.

I got say I pass on this there no Locals nor Local DVR storage and at $160mo for 3 box I still pay less for my cable service with 4 box and I have OTA and will not need to buy 5TB data plan.

I wonder how Netflix, Disney+, etc feel about Dabby? I have to think that they want to be as close to the end customer as possible and that they won't like this.

Netflix does not care, you can order it now with your cable subscription.
