Prime6 Dead, but Prime3 Lives Again

Silicondust has revealed on their forums that they have killed development of the 6 tuner Prime model. However they are not leaving the cable card business, and the 3 tuner Prime model is back in production.

For a limited production run only, as the main chip that is used is no longer in production. A few thousand of those chips were discovered; once they run out, the production of Primes will end. So get your order in as soon as they start accepting them.

Yes, that is an important caveat. Another point of interest, Silicondust also mentioned that the current Prime3 works with 4k and h.265 on FIOS service so it should be compatible if/when the service is added with other cable suppliers.

This makes me so sad that I moved out of FIOS-land 3 years ago.
