Formatting output filenames of dvd recodes

I think I know the answer to this, but thought maybe someone here knew.

Does anyone know if there is a database/app that either a transcoder or a decrypter uses to enumerate and format output files without having to go thru the process of manually mapping dvd titles to episode numbers and names?

Something analogous to cddb for music cd's, but for dvd's with episodes.

Handbrake only offers simple title naming and searching thru their forums seems to confirm it.
