9.2.5 placeshifter errors out
At the present, I have one system actively recording. v 9.2.2
The 9.2.5 placeshifter connects. everything looks fine, but I get an exception when trying to play live TV. The 9.2.2 placeshifter works fine. Do server and client need the same version? I'm thinking possibly it's the bundled ffmpeg? Java is oracle 1.8.0 v202 |

I think it has to do with the included mplayer needing older library files that are no longer supplied in newer Linux distributions. I got on this track reading what Stuckless said in this thread:
https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...05&postcount=7 I'm using Placeshifter 9.2.5 and I'm having the same problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the version, unless they make a breaking change in the network streaming code. Robert |

Maybe it IS the java version. see the log excerpt below:

Robert, I tried substituting the old ffmpeg. Same result. then I tried copying the system ffmpeg, same result.
I tried all three ffmpegs on a previous recorded mpg. All three played the video but the new sageTV embedded ffmpeg had no sound. How are your test going? |

Sorry, just now remembered to come back and check this thread...
I installed all the library files that mplayer was complaining that it needed to run and finally got to where I could manually run mplayer and play video, but like you, it played without sound. Below is copied from the console when I played some previously recorded HD video. A window opened and the video started playing, but no sound. If I try to play a recording from within placeshifter (v. 9.2.5) it thinks about it for several seconds and then I get nothing but a black screen. I can get the playback controls to show up but no video or sound. Code:
