I don't have problems when launching the nvidia decoder properties when sage is running (and using the decoder). *knocks on wood*

This is running the regular nvidia decoder, not the post processor (NVPP).

If you don't see the tray icon when running the decoder, then check the registry setting. From the nvidia decoder tree look for the DisableTrayIcon property. Don't the path right now, but you can search the registry for that property. Set it to 0, and the tray icon will appear when the decoder is in use.

I get this error too, I've tried everything I could think of to get it working. I've been searching the net like mad and haven't found a solution.

Any help out there??

At the risk of asking a dumb question:

Regardless of the fact that the product page says it's for Windows XP only, has anyone tried it with Windows 2000?

I find it strange that any product would be XP only these days, and I have no desire to upgrade at this moment, nor do I want to waste money on drivers that won't work for my system.

Guys, If the Nvidia decoder is the most recent one installed on your computer, then when you selct 'Default' in SageTV then it should be using the NV decoder.....

The only way it will work for me is when I set Sage to default. I can verify it's working because the NV tray icon shows up in the taskbar while playing video in SageTV.

Well the decoder won't even load with windows media player for me. The tray icon appears for a sec and goes away a couple for times, then i guess it reverts back to another decoder.

Note to all you other people out there with *COUGH* another version *COUGH* of nVDVD 4 installed, make sure you uninstall it and delete the NVIDIA Corporation directory before you install this, otherwise it just updates the filters, not a full install.
Might this apply to some of you?

Off and on for about a month or so I've been fighting this because I forgot this one detail.

Yes.

After pulling my head out of my...er...never mind, and installing the decoder correctly it is definatly the best option I've experienced.

FWIW, I'm running Sage 2.2.2, nVidia decoder (VPP, VMR9, 3d acc. enabled), into a SDTV via 9600XT and have finally realized what this HTPC thing is truly all about.

PS, that's assuming it lasts.

Does this card support DirectX 9? Could be part of the problem.

I'm not using as an audio decoder either... And I just tried reinstalling it to no avail. The funny thing is, at one point I thought I had it working. But I think that was with forceware multimedia 3.0 installed first and then 1.00.58 on top.

I still get the error no matter what, I guess I'll wait for 1.00.66 like shs said.

Ok I am dumb.... No audio or video with NV?

I read the thread so I went and bought the NV DVD decoders... I installed them and selected them in Sage, but all I got was an error and a black screen? Also I have hardware mpeg2 chips on the MB will decoders like this use that? Or from my PVR350 for encoding? thanks

Andy

Also, what is the diff between the NV Video decoder and the Post processor one?

Weird results using NVPP

I just rebuilt my HTPC based on a Gigabyte 8IPE1000-ProG Motherboard and a 3.2GHz Northwood P4, with a Radeon 7500 running CAT4.9 (soon to be replaced with a GeForce 6600GT/AGP. I installed TT2.05 and SageClient. I'm using VMR9 in Sage.

If I select the NVidia decoder everything looks fine, but if I select the NVPP I get a screen with the bottom half of the picture at the top of the screen, and the top half split into two and located at the bottom of the screen. I also get a weird red/green coloration.

The reason I wanted to use NVPP is that I was watching a Sci-Fi movie and the sci-fi logo using the NVidia decoder was very blocky and shimmering, but NVPP seems to fix the problem.

Can anyone shed any light on the cause of either of my problems?

Andy.
