ATI TV Wonder Elite

http://www.ati.com/products/tvwonderelite/index.html

I wonder if this will work with Sage. It has hardware MPEG-2 compression.

I'd say it's from a reliable source.

Jeff, we going to see support for this?

I want a high quality input device for my projector, but what I do not understand is why I am paying $150 for a card that does not even have an S-Video and RCA audio in.

Do these inputs not need ISF certification?

Will any of the MCE PVR cards with these inputs from a good STB be as good as they could have provided for this card with ISF Certification?

I am not being sarcastic, I really am curious because it was my understanding that even with S-Video input the signal has to go through the comb filter prior to being displayed or in this case passed to the analog to digital converter prior to compression. Or am I getting confused with Composite Video inputs?

John

While we haven't heard much, from that one sentence it sounds like it should have a better tuner, better grayscale tracking, and better color reproduction. And yes, S-Video does not need Y/C separation since they are already separate.

Now the question is, have any of the popular cards tried and failed for the ISF cert? It sounds like the 250MCE, 150MCE, 500MCE, all fail to live up to ISF's expectations.

Any word on SageTV support for this? These are starting to show up, and for lower price than initially thought computerHQ - currently has the Sapphire version listed at $89. I just ordered one.

Ordered a Sapphire Theatrix for a friend. He's not too impressed with the Cyberlink PowerCinema included. I just discovered SageTV, and it appears to be leaps and bounds above all other software!

I'd be happy to introduce him to SageTV if/when it is compatible with the Sapphire Theatrix.

Do you have a card to test? If not, PM me and I'd be happy to further discuss

I'd love to sell me e-homes while they still have good resale value and grab a couple of these, but it would be important for the new cards to be supported in sage. I'd imagine it will only be a matter of time.

Sage Support

I've read this post through twice looking for the answer to "when *might* this PVR be usable with Sage" and I haven't seen an answer.

I'd love to lose my two PVR-350s (yeah, I know I don't need two 350s - I've been educated since the purchase) and go with a more stable solution. I’ve just rebuilt my HTPC with an Intel 775 board (with the 925X chipset) and I’ve heard that I’m to expect problems with the 350’s and the 925X chipset…great. This new card could come in handy.

What do I see wrong with it? Well, I see that the 500MCE looks better than the 550P (more detail) :-( There has to be a way around that. I want another option other than Hauppauge (at the moment).

Is it just me or do both second pictures look better, even though one is with the 550 and one with the 500MCE.

SHS, that's the Sapphire card right? Not the ATI branded TV Wonder Elite?
