Both of those screen caps look horrible... I'm hoping neither are from a 250 or 500... Perhaps it would have faired better if you used a still with a wider level range and brighter colours...

I'd hope the clearer one is the 250 since the drivers have been out the longest, but I somehow think this might be a "trick question" type poll so I'd vote the other way.

Actually SHS, I think you need to install new drivers and if you're not sure where to get them from, let me know.

*sigh* Wish he would just say instead of having a poll dammit. Oh well. My PVR-500 is going to be here tomorrow, so I hope it isn't the sucky image.

"Which is from 500?" Answer is Capture 2.
Some ask about verticle bands running through the second picture I belive artifact could been cuase by a few thing
1: After install the PVR 250 with in the same system next to PVR 500.
2: A bad S/Video cable.
3: A problem with that DishNetwork DP301 receiver or steam at that time.

I had wondered which one might be from the newer encoder until I noticed the difference in the channel logo & then I had to think #2 was the 500.

I voted for #2 earlier in the poll. Stanger, I know the feeling! In fact, ordered one last weekend 'cuz they (Directron) showed in stock and total under $145. (Only Monday they tell me not really in stock, I tell them to cancel, they didn't cuz yesterday they charged my CC . Called them today when I found out thinking maybe now in stock, nope. I'd best see a CC credit ASAP ...end rant) Buy.com is out but can pre-order @$137.99 inc. shipping for the next batch coming in.

I don't know if I'd say the second one is better. The picture is definitely better, but the first picture has shadowing. Take a look at the Sci-Fi logo. Since the color between both captures matches, I think that the only difference is that the first frame happened to capture in transistion from one frame/field to the next.
