Arrow STV Import: Malore's custom guide menus for SageTV3 (26/jul/2005)

This import is obsolete with 3.0.7 and higher versions Please see the thread about 3.0 hidden extras for enabling the built-in Malore menus

Again, subject says it all:

Malore's customisable Guide screens as an importable module for SageTV3, allowing manual execution of comskip.

SageTV recordings style can be customised via the 'malore menu options' item added to the scrollable Detailed Setup/Customize panel

A new 'Custom Menus' item added to the 'Schedule Recordings menu'

Bonuses compared to V2:
Archived SageTV recordings can also be in malore style!

Warning:
This DOES NOT include comskip.exe nor automatic commercial detection.

Installation Instructions:

The screen names (for use with the dynamic main menu import) are:
  • "Custom Menus by malore" -- the Custom Menus menu screen
  • "Malore Archived SageTV Recordings" -- Archived Recordings, malore-style
  • "Malore Guide SHORTCUT"
  • "Malore Guide2 SHORTCUT"
  • "Malore Guide3 SHORTCUT"
  • "Malore Recording Schedule SHORTCUT"
  • "Malore Series Premieres & Specials SHORTCUT"
  • "Malore Upcoming Movies SHORTCUT"
  • "Malore Viewing History SHORTCUT"
  • "SageTV Recordings by malore"

update 26/Jul/2005 -- make Group By and Sort by lists scrollable.

You rule nielm! That is the one thing I've desperately been missing in the Malore views

Wierd.. I imported this stv and it works fine except there is no silver highlight bar, and if I hit menu to go back to the main menu it looks fine, but if I hit BACK from the Recordings Menu, it loads up my custom Cayar menu even though I never imported it...hmmmm

EDIT::: Fixed it, too much crap left over from other install so it got confused. Looks good now. Thanks

New version as of the date of this post...

The archived Sage Recordings menus should work now (I uploaded an older version!)

Bug.

If you go to the SageTV Recordings screen, then go to "OPTIONS" and then "SORT BY:", the menu that pops up does not have a highlight. And therefore you can not navigate that menu by the remote control... You have to use mouse... and even then you can't scroll up/down the list!

I've seen that bug before. I think when MCEXCON incorporated the Malore menus into their STV...

Update: 26/Jul/2005

Update: 26/Jul/2005

Make Group By and Sort By lists scrollable, and put the default 'close' button at the top of the list...

can you use your dynamic main menu and the malure custom menu's at together? I imported the dynamic menu and that works fine. Then I tried to import the malore custom menus, and the custom menus option does not show up. If I go to schedule recordings/favorites manager, then hit the back option I go to a menu where the custom options are available. If I continue to go back, I am returned to the dynamic menu version of the schedule recordings menu.

you need to add new menus item in the dynamic menus for the internal screens added by this module.

More problems with menus. To simplify the explanation here....

If I set up my own Sub Menus and Internal Menus like I have in an earlier attached menu.xml file, the menus look great and function as specified. However, If I am in any menu I created and click back, it takes me back to the original menu that was.

I would prefer to go back to the menu I created. If I hit back twice, interestingly, it does go back to my main menu. How do I get it to function as if the "original" menu has changed or been taken over and go back to the menu structure created and do it with one click back instead of two?

you cannot. This is a limitation with using imports.

I'm running 3.0.5 and I've added Dynamic Menus, Nielms Malore Menus & Nielms Comskip playback.

When I'm using Malore's recording menu to select a program to watch, the program starts in the background, but the recording menu never goes away. How can I get the menu to go away upon selectig a show?

BTW - this problem does not exist with the normal recording menu.

Ideas?

To make my wife know that that screen is not part of our new setup, perhaps I could paint it white to blend in with the with the white letters. Is there any way to put a different background on those screens I wish to ignore?

Select it (or press Play) twice -- this is how malore's menus work...

Any chance of making it an option to play and hide the menu with 1 play command?

I believe that's how Cayars used to do it.

Thanx .... trying to keep it close to the same for the WAF

Malore has updated his V3 of these guides to include "grouping" by stars as well as something else I think. Do you think you could add them as an importable module?

I don't know if this is a Malore thing, or a Sage core issue...

If I change the sort type to sort by DATE... Sometimes the shows are listed out of order.

Like right now the folder I am looking at has 5 recordings. And here is how it is sorted when I do it by DATE. I added the recording times in parenthesis because I think that has something to do with the bad sorting.

8/4/05 (11 pm recording)
8/5/05 (8 pm recording)
8/3/05 (8 pm recording)
8/2/05 (8 pm recording)
8/1/05 (8 pm recording)
7/31/05 (8 pm recording)
7/3005 (8 pm recording)

Notice that the 8/4 shows as newer than 8/5....

Jason

The custom guides menu is burried 3 levels deep on my menus and no quick way to access them.

I'm trying to find out a way to map the custom guides menu screen to my remote. Is there any way to do this with the custom guides built into SageTV 3.0.x?
