Sweet.

Now I can auto-CC to my embedded analog MPEG recordings and to my external .smi'd .avi files. I'll just have to make sure not to have .smi files with analog MPEG files with embedded CC.

Thanks.

Yes it does.

However, the client needs direct access to the .smi files so you either have to run your import and recording folders as UNC folders, or map the clients so that they have the same drive letter paths as the server does.

can your plugin be used to add subtitles to a playing dvd ?

I sometimes get a dvd which does not have hebrew on it, but some good people translated that version to an srt file.

I would like to play the original dvd, with the srt/smi file, and get the best of both worlds.

Can this be done?
What would the have to be named, and where should it be placed? (smi file)

could you add support for it?

these are 2 progrmas that would allow you to watch dvd with an srt file:
http://www.dvdsubber.com/about.asp
http://www.trustfm.net/divx/Software...llaPlayer.html

and here is a link to my original question:

No it doesn't, but I'll a look at it. I can't see how it could work without at least ripping the DVD to the hard disk.

New issue - partial CC smi files

So here is a new issue that I have identified now that I am actually having time to sit back and use the SageTV...

I use ccextractor, kicked off by batch job via Dirmon2, against .ts files that are still growing. The batch file runs ccextractor until it hits a wall (end fo the growing file) and then ends. Five minutes later the batch kicks again to recreate the .smi file again, this time with more info. It works fine, BUT the problem is that if I start watching the program, the .smi file is loaded into Sage Memory and can not be reset even thought the smi file is new with more information. How can I over come this?

I was thinking of having SageTV chunk the video file into 15 minute parts that could be completed in their entirety, but I don't know how to do that. The files would be the same except for -1, -2 ,-3, etc. at the end, and would each have there own .smi files.

Any thoughts on this issue?

perplexing...

It's a part of the code that I've not really touched from the original malore version, but I'll have a look.

Changing the video file doesn't change the subs

When I watch one movie with the .smi subs then stop and watch another one, the subs remain the first one. So I get the new video file with teh previous subs. I have to exit sage and return for the subs to switch to the second file.

Try the test version 1.1.3 on the first post and see if that helps.

I'm sure it could be made to work with .srt files. It's just a matter of finding the time and motivation to sort out the file parsing, unfortunately I have very little of both currently.

Maybe we can just fix your sync problems with converted files instead.

Getting Sage to reload the SMI if it changes would be great too, or to reload it each time it stops and starts again, or continuously (the best case) but I realize there are many issues.

I wish that Sage could simply read the CC in the Mpeg stream for digital recordings in real time. My Panasonic TV does it... maybe if the CC was passed to the TV as part fo the stream? hmm... just tossing out thoughts...

Thanks for any effort you can put towards this! I realize time and motivation are short!

If there is anything I can do to help let me know.

+1 on that. Once I knew for a fact that the digital recordings had CC captured as part of the stream, I fired off a feature request to Sage.

Can you give 1.1.3 from the first post a test. I did some changes to the file loading, which there is a remote chance may help with your problem. It may reload the file once it runs out of subtitles from it's initial load, but I have no way of testing it.
