When you upgraded to v6.1, did you unplug the MVP, wait for several seconds, then plug it in again before trying to use it?
You could try deleting the MVP's properties file in the 'clients' subdir in the SageTV install dir. - Andy

I have two MVPs and one was connected but the SageTV Service was stopped.
First I did as you suggested and deleted the clients/properties files with no luck. Then I re-installed SageTV with both MVPs disconnected. Still no luck. It seems that all Play lists including the Now Playing list stops working. I have managed to start a single audio file but if I select one more the GUI says it is added to the Now Playing list. After that I have never been able to play an audio file using MVP extender and software 6.1.8. My SageTV GUI on my computer running the SageTV Service has not these problems. /Ässo

Don't know, both my MVPs play audio fine in 6.1.8...

It sounds a bit strange this problem. And I guess you are not trying to play protected files since you state that you haven't had this problem before.
I would try to do a clean install of sage on the server. (remember to take a copy of the directory first, because you need your .bin and .bak files) If that not helps contact support and send them one of the files that will not play. good luck rtengvad
