Setting up News Ticker in SageMC

I cannot find instructions on how to set up the news ticker in SageMC. Using the latest Sage and SageMC. The ticker just says "Untitled" right now.

I checked the WIKI for this stv, but nothing and searching the stv thread came up with nothing too.

Any help please?

You must restart SageTV once you have enabled it.

You'll need to use one of the custom main menu items (custom1-5) to create a menu item for the RSS Feed menu item, I think it may be started with Nielm's RSS Feed or something. You can do that in the SageMC options menu, I believe under main, or menu (sorry for the real general instructions, but I'm not at home). Once you have found the internal menu (as stated above), you can then go back to the main menu, hit options, and enable the custom menu you assigned to the RSS Feeds. Then go inside there, and add your feeds.

OK, so does anyone have instructions for adding this news reader into SageMC? It seems to add the page and I can click on the options and select to add a feed from the clipboard and it supposedly adds it. But the screen is blank except for the title. Can I test it somehow? The 'untitled' bit has gone and is now blank

When you add feeds to the RSS feed plugin, it's not adding them to the RSS bar function at the bottom of the main menu. You have to actually go in and add those to be in the RSS bar. I believe this is done in SageMC options, under RSS Options (just below where you enable it). Once you do this, you should see them come up.

It's a bit strange, but the RSS plugin was added before the RSS bar (or whatever it's called), so I guess it allows you to have a lot more feeds if you want, but only have important ones show up in the bar...

I asked nielm for his help and he thinks it is a problem with SageMC trying to run an old version.

You can't, the RSS reader code has been customized for SageMC. It has been integrated into the STV and cannot be removed. But if you use the correct JAR version there shouldn't be any problem, just use the attached JAR file (it's part of the full SageMC download), and you should be fine.
