Extender issue with "transcoded" files

The issue that occurs is that approximately half-way through a transcoded file (either one I download or one I have sage do) I can no longer skip forward by 10 seconds. The time increments but the video just keeps going back to that middle spot.

I tried this on the local client, place shifter on my PC, and the extender. The fault only occurs with the extender. To further test this I ensured I was only using the default UI.

I have had this issue occur with 30 minute, 60 minute, and 2 hour shows.

This problem isn't a horrible bother since I can watch the show at another location..but damn if it isn't annoying when i'm at 1:50:00 of a 2 hour movie and accidently hit the skip forward button and get sent back to the 1:00:00 mark.

I have the same problem plus one other

Sorry no solution but I have seen this occur as well the identical problem press ff or ff2 and then i go back to a point in the past once in this mode pressing either button will return me to the same place. same as you if i watch on my pc it works fine. also this has been happening through many versions of the player 6.0 all betas 6.1 betas and gold

I have a second problem, also only on the mvp, sometimes when i press ff or ff2 i jump a random amount of time sometimes 20+ min sometimes 5 min etc this dosnt always happen (maybe 5% of the time) but once again it only happens on files that need to be transcoded on the fly.

if i watch sage recordings neither of these happen. only avi files mpeg4 dvds etc

I have just remembered a third issue.

sometimes when i start watching one of these files (ie ones that need transcoding) on my MVP it will not start at the begining but will start some random way through.

this also happens when watching google or you tube. ie select the file on google or you tube to watch and it might start to play from 4:03 (or someother random point) which is kinda frustrating since it has only downloaded the first 5 seconds if i wait once it has the data for 4:03 it will start playing or i can rewind until i am at the begining and then it works fine

and a 4th issue which is kinda like the 3rd issue but it fixes it itself

i select a file that needs to be transcoded to watch on my mvp, as it loads the timeline shows it will start playing from say 4:03 (or some other random point) but then it fixes it and moves back to the begining 0:00. this one is purely cosmetic as it resolves itself.

Just had the extender not fast forward at the begining of a file that was transcoded. Accidently hit the FF button at about 90% through the file and had to start all over again.

If you have a PVR500 need a regestry patch.

Open notepad

in a black document paste

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hcwPP2\DriverData]
"HcwTimeStampIssue1"=dword:00000001
"HcwTimeStampIssue2"=dword:00000000
Save to your desktop as fix.reg, then run the file and it will modify the regestry for you.

Colin, Thanks for the suggestion I think your solution is for a different problem. firstly i dont have a pvr500 but more importantly sage recordings work perfectly. the issue is with anything that needs to be transcoded

avi, divx, flv, google video, you tube etc etc etc

all of the issues i have mentioned only happen with these files on an mvp

all sage recordings play perfectly on the mvp
all the issues dissappear if i play the file on sage client.

any other thoughts people?

If this is still happening using the latest version of SageTV (v6.1.9), then report it to SageTV.

Still happening on new beta

I have just had the weird jump ahead problem happen to me on the beta (6.2.4). It may be wishful thinking but it appears it happens less often but im afraid it still happens

I have reported the bug to sage
