Freezing when I change channels

I'm trying out the Windows Sage v6.1 trial. I have a PVR-350 and a PVR-150, but I'm using a Gigabyte 7300 GS for S-video out. I also have the nVidia pure video decoder. I don't have a remote installed right now, and am just using my mouse and keyboard. While watching live TV, I have been trying to change channels by clicking on the up and down arrows. When I click to change the channel, the program freezes on me. It doesn't happen right away, but usually takes a couple clicks (channel changes) before it freezes. I'm not sure what the problem is, but if I press Control-Alt-Delete and end Sage, a Java icon comes up saying the program is no longer responding.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? I'm going to try to install a different version of Java (j2sdk 1.4.2) to see if it fixes the problem. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

Has anyone had a similar problem? Which Java version should I be using with Sage?

I guess I'm confused about how Java numbers their software...is 1.6u1 the same as JDK 6u1 found here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Thanks for the help.

Do you think it could be a Java issue or something else?

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1 is latest.

You didn't provide any info on which version you're on currently. Only the one you were contemplating moving to. If you don't have any other java dependencies keeping you on older versions. It would not hurt to upgrade

I just checked, and I am running Java 1.6u1, so no need to upgrade. I wonder if I should downgrade. Anyway, it seems like the freezing only happens when I'm clicking on the channel up arrow, and not the channel down arrow. Ultimately I hope to be using a remote instead of a mouse to change channels, so it may not be a problem - I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this or if they know of a workaround.

Thanks again.

So I uninstalled both Java 1.6u1 and Sage, then installed Java 1.4.2 and reinstalled Sage - and I'm still having the same problems. And I was wrong before, it's when I change the channel either up or down that it freezes. I also installed my Streamzap remote to see if the problem only occurred when I used the mouse to change channels, and the problem still happens when I use the remote's buttons for channel up and down.

Any thoughts?

Is there a way to change Sage so that when you press channel up and down, it tells you what is on those channels, but then doesn't actually switch to that channel until you press OK on the remote (or hit ENTER on a keyboard)?

Try setting the following property in sage.properties, but I didn't think it was needed with the tuners you are using:

seeker/fast_mux_switch=false

You could enable debug logging and contact SageTV tech support with the log.
