Imported MPEG-2 playback fails

I've ripped a DVD into the Video import folder, did a "Refresh Imported Media" from the Setup menu, and see the title show up in the Media Center\Imported Videos screen; shows up as a big DVD icon with the folder name under it. When I try to play it, I get an "ERROR (-19): There is no MediaPlayer that can playback the selected file".

I can play the video from a Windows player, so I know the files are good.

By all accounts I've found, mplayer is supposedly able to play MPEG-2. All suggestions are appreciated. Any ideas?

The Linux UI is the Placeshifter client, which does not have the capability to play DVDs.

Anyone know if this planned for a future version of Placeshifter?

I knew the linux Sage couldn't play DVDs but I just assumed it was a device issue, not the file format. It was extra confusing because it was recognized in the Imported Videos menu as a DVD.

I was able to export it to an MPEG2 '.mpg' (with Nero) and then it worked. Still, it's a lot of trouble to go through for 1 movie.

Thanks for your help.
