small nuisance problem
Little problem, we have lived with..
At the top of the hour or bottom of the hour, when watching SAGE there is always a small 2 or 3 second stutter, like pause. I assume this must be when the system does some checking and the CPU usage goes way up or something. Any cure for this? Like I said, its no big deal, just wondering if anybody else has seen it and knows a fix. Thanks, Gary Ellis |

Are you watching live TV & that is just the switch from one recording to the next? Or, do you mean you are watching prerecorded content & the playback file isn't changing?

play back video or live tv....doesn't matter...whenever the clock switches to :00 or to :30, I get a pause (or stutter) for about 2 seconds...
Thanks, Gary Ellis P.S. Andy, thanks for your help with programming my JP1 remote...I used some of your old documentation and some from the JP1 website and figured it out. Now, I'm trying to figure out what else I can program the remote to do.. |

If SageTV isn't recording, I'm not sure what would cause a blip every half hour. If it is something SageTV is doing, you could check the debug log to see what it contains at those times. Is there anything else running on the system that is scheduled to run periodically?

Thanks for the tip on debug log...I'll check it...
Interesting question on do I have anything else running...I realized that the only thing that might be running is Comskip. It is set to 30 minute intervals, althought its really not supposed to run except during the early morning hours. But, I wonder if it could be checking every 30 minutes to see if its supposed to run and thus pushing up the CPU usage for a couple of seconds.... I bet I could look at the processes on task manager at the 30 minute interval, I should see a quick "blip" of some process kicking in. Thanks for the hints.... Gary Ellis |

I also have this problem. It only occurs while watching live TV. I always thought it was the 'guide' system updating. I assumed that everyone was just 'dealing' with this problem. Are we actually in the minority with this problem?

You're not on your own.
I've seen it, I just assumed my box was busy doing something else at the time thats a little processor intensive. I've never thought about looking into it. I don't think its a live tv thing as it can be in the middle of a program. |
