PVR-150 - "currently being used for live tv: false"

I have a PVR-150 and I am trying to set up sagetv on XP.
If I go to set up the cap card, sometimes when I click "Composite", it shows the preview, sometimes it does not. Whether I see the preview or not, When I go to "Watch Live TV" I just get a black screen. However, in the setup wizard, if the preview works, then when you do the test in the Video Playback configuration it works.I have tried various versions of the driver, re-ghosting the machine and installing different ways, but I can't get joy.

A symptom of this seems to be the PVR-150 showing up in the settings as:
currently being used for live tv: false

Why would it do that? Any ideas?

A little more info would help.

Did you complete the source setup wizard?
What source are you trying to capture? Cable,satellite,over the air etc.
Have you gone through channel setup yet?

I am trying to capture from a Sky satellite box.
I did all the wizards, multiple times.

Normally, on first install of sagetv and running through the wizard, it checks out fine in the source setup preview and then when you run the video output test, all modes - standard, advanced etc seem fine and give full-screen output, but as soon as the wizard ends, invariably the live tv function just gives a black screen, though on one or two installs it has worked for a while - but as soon as I go and make other (unconnected) settings (tvtv etc) it stops working - "currently being used for live tv" changes from true to false in the settings and I cannot get a picture any more.

Interestingly, while it was not showing up in watch tv, if I went to the EPG setup and clicked "View" for a channel, it would show a preview of it in the small window. I just removed tvtv EPG setup from the tuner and it worked, but I have no channel names. I went to add tvtv EPG back, but it is freezing on the tvtv account setup page. Most odd.

OK, I traced this to the tvtv settings. If I turn tvtv off, it works, as soon as I turn tvtv on, it stops working.
