Episode names

OK - I've been using sage for a long time, but just recently made some big changes to my setup - buying the extender (WONDERFUL unit).

My Question is on Episode names and such of recorded shows:

Typical when recording a show, the filename will show as:

ModernMarvels-Sugar-88240-0.mpg (just an example)

In the past, I've renamed these files removing the show name (ModernMarvels) and the number, just leaving the Episode name, etc.
Example: Sugar.mpg

When viewing from Sage, Sage no longer sees these as Sage recorded shows, but Media Center can read them just fine. Is there a way to lookup past shows and re-create the Episode names/numbers so all of the data shows for Sage TV recordings, etc?

That ID number at the end of the file is what was used to match the recording to its airing info in the database. Once you remove that, SageTV doesn't have any automatic way of connecting a recording to its airing info.

There may be a way to use nielm's web server to help with this, but I'll leave that to others...

if the shows are still in the database, search for the show in the webserver, in the past, will list the database entries for the airings.

The Airing ID is listed at the bottom of the detailed Info window -- rename the file so that it is named
<anything>-<airingid>-0.mpg
and the next time you do a library rescan the files will be linked back and be listed in Sage Recordings.

If there is no past airings, you can serach for the file in the video library, and edit the show info (link at bottom of detailed info) to put it back into sage recordings (it creates an airing and renames the file).

that's what I was having trouble finding - was the database where I can lookup the original names of the files. Recording detail of a renamed file only shows the new name - the original database info is gone.

I'll keep looking (searches on past shows to see if I can find). I was hoping a database listing somewhere, where I can look through and find the numbers, then rename the files I've got.

I believe Niel was referring to using the web server to search for the airings & you would see the Airing ID at the bottom of its detailed info.

What is the address to the webserver within SageTV 6.2 so I can check this? I don't remember seeing this in the documentation.

It's not in the Sage documentation, since it is not a Sage-installed webserver. It is a add-in webserver that can be installed into Sage, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8426
