Is TV Out with OSD on PVR-350 Stable?

I'm looking to replace my MediaMVP with a PVR-350 and was wondering if the TV out function works good/stable. I ran into conflicting answers in my searches.

Still as bad as it always has been because of the Hauppauge drivers as far as I know.

I eventually got mine to be extremely stable, with the one exception that I always had to be quick on the draw to skip past the last few seconds of a show. If I let it play to the very end, it would take a very long time to come back. (which is better than what used to happen which is reboot/hard freeze/etc).

I dont have any specific instructions though. I think I got lucky with figuring out the least and correct installs hauppauge software in the right order, and a clean OS.

I recently converted over to video out from the video card though. Only being able to play back mpeg-2 had become too much of a burden.

While I still pine for the bulletproof smooth performance (untouched by heavy cpu use), I love the flexibility of my setup now, and I believe my PQ to be better as well although thats debateable.

Personally, I'd recommend against going the hardware out route , at least with the 350. It is definitely yesterday's technology, and nothing has changed in regards to drivers etc for a very very long time.

It's time to move on unless you have very specific requirements, and even then, maybe there are other newer hard tv-out options?

I have never been able to get it to work correctly from day one. The end of show lockups & reboots are very annoying and the occassional recording that is so pixelated its un watchable is just one more aggravation. I was very disappointed at all the finger pointing of blame between Hauppauge and Sage over whos drivers were causing the problems and also at how quickly Hauppauge discontinued driver support for the product. I am looking for another product that works better and has better support.
