Audio problem WinTV HVR-1600

All playback through my HVR1600 is very scratchy...the video is fine, but the audio, especially at higher output levels (cheers, exposions, etc) is horribly crackly/scratchy. It happens both in SageTV and the WinTV application.

When playing cable recordings on other computers, still scratchy, so it's obviously a recording issue.

When playing files FROM other computers (not made with WinTV or Sage), audio is perfect, telling me it's likely a problem with HVR-1600.

Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem. I am going to try the AC3FILTER and see if that works.

I know the signal strength is good.

Bought another HDHR and took a sledgehammer to the HVR-1600.

It was one of the first HVR-1600 models and quite a POS.

Gained a digital tuner, lost an analog tuner (oh no). Picture quality is better and no more sound problems.

Weird, I could swear that my system runs quieter now (and it has always been pretty quiet). I wonder if I was running too close to power limits on my system? Maybe that was part of the problem.

Oh well, the sledgehammer was theraputic.
