Usenet integration - SageMC - any takers?
I have setup a way of parsing usenet for .nzb files. The files are downloaded to a folder in my c: drive. If I put one of these .nzb files into another folder all files the .nzb refers to are automatically downloaded, checked against par files, then unzipped into a directory. Currently I have that directory setup as a video folder in sage so the .mpg or .avi is automatically recognized by sage. I have been looking into studio to figure out if I could integrate this somehow with sage. Unfortunately with 2 kids and a full time job I just don't have the time to learn studio to do this. Right now I just look at the folder for titles I like then drag and drop the files I want downloaded and the rest is automatic.
If sage could read the file list and parse the .nzb's for subject and list those subjects that would be awesome. Then you could select the file and choose, download now, download later. Files for download now would drop into this directory and downloaded at that time. Download later would drop them into another file which would be copied by a scheduled task to the download folder at a designated time. The way I pull the files from the newsgroups also has an "in place" .xml file that records the progress which I'm sure can be integrated somehow into a progress bar or something. Basically what i'm saying is, I've completed the backend and I'm looking for someone with some knowledge of studio to help me with the frontend which would list the titles, then upon selection move the proper file to the proper place. I use SageMC so I'm hoping that anyone interested would want to integrate it with that. The parser works nice as standalone listing around 130 constant titles. It can work with any usenet group. Movies, Music, Pictures. You get the idea. TIA. Last edited by saltlyck2; 11-09-2007 at 02:39 PM. |

Take a look at my SageMC video tools import, specifically the status menu. It looks in a directory for files with a specific extention (in my case .status) and puts them in list form where you can select one and pefrom an action on it. At the very least it would give you the move .nzb to process directory, the rest of the stuff would take additional work.

Ok
Yeah that might work pretty good. Can I just change that extension to look for .nzb within the .xml of the import?

Done and Done...
I use gameex as my front end for all the emulators, computer games and such. It turned out to be the perfect solution to all of this and works fairly well.

Will Gameex work with the hd extenders that are coming out? Is it possible to hook up a gamepad to the extender or something like that?

Not sure
I call gameex from within sage using the dynamic menu plugin. Sage is put to sleep when using gameex and I'm able to play games with the gamepad. I'm also able to use game pad to navigate gameex. When I exit gameex it opens sage again. Works pretty good and has for the last 3 years or so. Since Gameex is a standalone program I would think that as long as you can open the program from sage it would work with the HD extender.
