Nvidia not showing in task bar

Hi,
I'm VERY pleased with 6.3.1.155, works well. Only one thing - Deccheck still shows Nvidia decoder as default, and usually when "default" MPEG2 decoder is chosen in Sage, the Nvidia controls show up in the task bar. Now it's gone! Choosing default or Nvidia in Sage fails to make it reappear. Not a biggie, just wanted to see if it's only my system doing it. I wonder what decoder I am really using?
Thanks,
Rob

If you pick nVidia, it will use nVidia. That's the easiest way

But I don't have any way to change settings! No icon in control panel or taskbar. Maybe my "ATI Tray Tool" overrides the settings anyway. I just like the ability to choose deinterlacing options and overlay settings like brightness - for some dark movies.

You could always pull up Windows media Player and play a video. Tray icon should show up and you can make any changes you want.

Would be interesting if that was the case. I have a similar problem, where I have Nvidia as the preferred decoders (by DECCHECK), and when I pull up WMP>>TOOLS>>OPTIONS>>DVD Tab and Advanced, I get the SageTV Decoder (Main Concept) where I used to see Nvidia...

When I play an MPEG2 file in WMPlayer, "properties" shows Video codec to be Sage TV MPEG-2 Video Decoder. Deccheck still shows Nvidia as default! Audio is correct: AC3Filter. Looks like Sage is changing the default decoder for video?

Yep, ever since the upgrade on the beta version, I've noticed this...glad others are starting to see it.

When Sage starts the playback here, the nvidia icon shows up on the task bar. But double clicking on it does not open the configuration panel. Only "About" works, displaying the decoder version.

With the installation of 6.3 beta, the New SageTV Mpeg decoder is set to the default decoder of the OS. I have to use DSFMgr to adjust the merit to put Nvidia back as the default one. Then after a reboot, the Nvidia control is back in the task bar.

When you choose the default decoder in SageTV, it actually uses the default decoder in the OS, which is determined by the DirectShow Merit. Unfortunately Nvidia control will not show up in the task bar unless it is the OS default one and you choose default in Sage as well.

Vince, thanks for that tidbit. I will give that a go tonight, and see if it solves my issues.

I wonder how the SageTV decoder ended up getting a higher merit than Nvidia during this version of the beta?

cychou, that did it. Now the Nvidia icon shows up in the tray, I can open it and tweak it. Thanks much!
