Vista 64 bit support?

Is vista 64 bit supported with SageTV?

I am just about to reinstall my OS and I was thinking of going to 64 bit. Any reason not to?

There's no native 64-bit support, but it will run fine as a 32-bit application in Vista x64.

I think the main problem for 64-bit support is the fact that Sun still doesn't have a native 64-bit Java Runtime. All they have for Windows x64 is a command line version.

Sun has native x64 JREs for Windows. Main problem is Sage isn't compiled to use the x64 JRE

Considering Sage runs fine on Vista x64 using the 32bit JRE I doubt it. Maybe version 8 or 9

I wouldn't hold my breath... you *might* be able to play an audio CD from Sage by v9... maybe even have a 3rd crappy screensaver by then!

As my other post above stated there IS a native x64 Java. Not just a command line version. There has been a native x64 JRE for a long time.

FYI...

I am running SageTVClient on a Vista 64-bit box. You simply have to install the x86 (32-bit) JRE. Everything seems to work just fine. Also, it appears that both the 32-bit and 64-bit Java can coexist on the same box.

As a side note...it really is time for software vendors to get serious about 64-bit. Many people are migrating to 64-bit to take advantage of all this hardware and RAM we have.

Even if you have a 64-bit OS that doesn't mean programs necessarily need to also be. If a program needs the extra resources afforded to it by 64-bit, then by all means. But I don't believe there would by any advantage for a program such as SageTV to be 64-bit. It just isn't that resource limited of a program.

I’m running Sage client ver6.3 on Visat64 and it runs without problems. However my Streamzap remote doesn’t work because there is no 64bit driver available and according to an email I received from their tech supp it will be months before one is available.

Do any of you guys know of a remote that will work with Sage and vista64 that is similar to the Streamzap or a UIRT that will work with the Streamzap Remote?

I'm using Pinnacle MCE remotes on my Vista and Vista x64 computers:

They work great and seem much more durable than my broken MS MCE remotes.

I've all but given up on the supremely complex integration of redbook audio into Sage

I have Vista 64 Ultimate. Windows Media Center and WinTV that came with my Hauppauge card crashed and burned.

SageTV worked flawlessly. I was happy to dish out the 30$ for the client and kudos to SageTV for working where others failed ; )
