First off, after playing with it for just a few days, I really like SageTV.
I'm coming here as a long-time user of BTV 3.5.x, which worked fine for me for almost 3 years now. But, ever since I discovered HDHomerun, I had nothing but problems. I wasted months trying to set up clear QAM lineups and have run into several weird things since upgrading to 4.7.x. My remotes sometimes respond erratically (on all systems), HD playback of files across the gigabit network don't fastforward/rewind properly, and .... I noticed that the product really hasn't moved forward enough during the last 3 years. And worse, things that worked, started breaking.

So I gave SageTV a shot. And I'm glad I did.
At first, I was disappointed to see my time was off by a few hours in the listings. I found in this forum to update the Java runtime.
Then, I was extra disappointed to see that I couldn't simply set the aspect ratio (pillarbox) to watch 4x3 HD content "zoomed" to fill the entire 4x3 screen. I found how to change the aspect settings, so that's taken care of. BUT, I hope, the aspect ratio could be made part of the standard setup. This may be a turn-off to some users. Personally, I don't want to research things like this when I try out a new product.
Love the built-in DVD player. I have some DVDs copied to harddisk, which now can be played nicely from within SageTV.
Love the USB-UIRT/Remote support, if I could only figure out how to make remote buttons auto-repeat (instead of having to press the button over and over).

Anyway, SageTV looks promising, especially the Media Extender is something I will be looking into. As soon as I have time, I'll start switching over from BTV to SageTV.

Welcome!

Many remotes actually have 2 alternating codes for each button press. You will need to teach both codes for each button. Go to the command setup and go through all of your buttons twice. It is easiest to do the training for this if you can temporarily use a mouse for the navigation.

Hope that helps!
