Exclamation Remote Help / 2 Hauppauge Cards

So I dived in and bought my components and installed everything....

Can't get my remote to work...did some searching and saw a post that suggested removing everything and the cards....did so...

Re-Installed the 1600 card that I got from here as the bundle...installed software and rebooted....remote icon shows up...

Re-Installed my PVR500 card and the remote disappears...I have swapped ports on the motherboard....

What can I do? I want more than on channel at a time and at this time I am a little lost....

FYI its the 45 button Hauppauge remote from the bundle here....

Whats happening is the hauppuage IR software is looking for the IR port on the 500, which doesn't exist.

The solutions are to either swap the cards around, which will sometimes work (sounds like you already tried that). Or set up some scripting to get the cards to initialize in a specific order to that the ir software will attach to the 1600.

edit: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8672 is the thread that talks about some scripting.

Or what a lot of people do is ditch the hauppauge IR receiver and go with a USB-UIRT

I just tried all of that....wont come back....sigh....at this point I guess I am going to have to dive in and get the USB-UIRT device....

Will it work with the Hauppauge remote I just got in the 1600 bundle here?

Thanks
Shane

It should. That is one of the reasons the UIRT is so popular. It can be used with just about any remote.
