HD100 with R5000

Anyone use a new HD extender with a R5000 mod first hand?
Looking for smooth playback of all hd channels. (mpeg2/mpeg4/h264)

I already have 1 HD100 and it works good with my HDHR/analog capture. I would get more for all my main tvs if the R5000 works right..
I just switched to dish and want to make sure this is going to work out before i spend 700+ on a box and R5000 mod. It would kill me to buy everything and figure out I need a pc client to make it work right.

I'm sure there are others here that will confirm my statement

I just got my hd100, I'm having some issues with H264 livetv playback with the r5000. There are period minor video glitches with livetv and there are also timeline issues. For example, I was watching/recording the football game tonight paused (game clock at 1:26) and stopped it, restarted playback at the same place according to the timeline on the bottom, but it started approximately 5:00 game clock time (game clock at 6:15) earlier. I've seen similar timeline issues before, but if I fast foward to the end it looses audio/video pauses every other second.

I literally just started using it after upgrading the firmware, putting in the correct settings about 30 minutes ago. Maybe it will end up being something easy to fix.

I have not notice that. But I don't watch any thing Live, so I would not have. I will check it out

Just out of curiosity, how long do channel changes take? I've got a R5000 modded 4dtv receiver, and have been thinking about switching to Dish. Channel changes have always been a PITA with 4dtv and R5000.

Hey a fellow 4DTV /Bud user, not many of us left.
I use my 4dtv with Sage for SD it's not r5000 modded.

But back to the R5000.
The r5000 channel changing takes a while with dishnet as well...........5-10 seconds

That's not bad, on the 922 5-10 seconds would be great. Even with the fast channel change update, channel changes were slow. 10 seconds was the best they ever were. If the dish had to move, then you had to wait about 30 seconds for the move plus 10 more for the channel change. The 30 seconds were required, as R5000 needs to wait for the longest possible move time prior to attempting to tune the channel.

This seem to be a 4DTV problem an not a Sage/R5000 problem.

It's been a while since I used my R5000 modded 922, but I worked through a similar issue to this with Nextcomm for G11. I forget the exact cirumstance, but the solution was to go to the satellite adjacent to G11 on the satellite selection screen and then send the command to arrow left or right as the case may be before selecting the satellite. It seems like David added this functionality into the software. At least for PVR events anyway. I'm pretty sure I remember events showing up with a < or > next to a satellite to indicate a switch to the sat and then bumping one to the left or right.
