Can't control audio volume but can mute!?

HELP! For some reason, on certain content I can't seem to control the audio volume when playing a video--but it will let me mute the audio. I think I've narrowed it down to MP3 audio since all my HD audio is working just fine.

Any suggestions?

I was having a similar problem and tried several things. I changed some settings in the sage.properties file and could get the volume control to work on everything else but then the recorded shows had no control. Finally I installed the "Vista Codec Package 4.6.5" from "Free-Cedecs.Com" and everything works as it should.

You may want to try that and see if it helps you.
