Network Encoder Questions

I'm attempting to setup some network encoders. I followed the directions in Appendix G of the manual but not having any luck. Do I need to manually edit the sage.properties file to add the network encoder to the server?

Second part, I manually updated the sage.properties file to get it working. I added the encoder successfully but when I try to tune to a channel nothing happens. I'm using a usb-uirt on the network encoder which works fine on the encoder box. Also verified the encoder is active and all ports required are open.

Unless it's another SageTV instance running as a network encoder (and maybe the R5000 app), yes, you need to hand edit the sage.properties file.

Are you actually trying to record, or are you going by the test in the encoder setup, because I don't think most network encoders support that "test" feature.

I was using another instance of Sage on the encoder box. Nothing was ever 'discovered' by the host so I assumed all encoders must be hand edited in the host's sage.properties file.

I was trying to tune and watch a show. The encoder box never attempts to tune to the channel (watching the usb-uirt led and a tv hooked up to the receiver)

OK I figured it out. There was a DVB card (Nexus-S) installed on the host that had a network service. I disabled the 2nd network service and the network encoders became available. On to the next hurdle. It does not give me the option to select the sound capture on the card (Nova-S-Plus). Only the mobo sound input is available. I think a bug report is in order.
