SageTV And Xvid Codec?

Hi,

Does SageTV play xvids using an internal codec, or does it use whatever xvid codec I have installed.

I ask because playback quality is less good in SageTV than WMP (which I know uses the codec I have installed).

If SageTV does use it's own codec, is there a way to change that?

TIA,

Nick.

Nick,

It should be possible to playback Xvid AVI files on both the computer and an MVP. I can playback Xvid AVI files on both the computer and MVP.

An Althlon XP 2800+ CPU has barely enough processing power to playback an Xvid AVI file on a MVP without stuttering. An Althlon XP 1500+ CPU cannot playback an Xvid AVI file on an MVP without constant severe stuttering. A faster dual-core has no trouble playing back the Xvid AVI file on the MVP.

I do not know what codec I use to playback the Xvid AVI files.

I do have Xvid Xvid 1.1.3 software installed from this source:

Xvid home: http://www.xvid.org/
Doom9's forum: http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=52

I also have the Roxy99 programs/batch files installed to transcode MPEG2 files to Xvid AVI files.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Sorry, that wasn't what I was asking. I want to know if Sage uses it's own codec for xvids, or an internal one?

Regards,

Nick.

Yes it uses it's own codec if you have MPEG4 decoder set to SageTV. If you don't it won't.
