A couple of newbie questions

1) I admittedly have not read the manual fully yet (just got started on SageTV when my extenders arrived last night) but what settings do I need to have on my PC’s “power” settings, in order that Sage can wake the computer up and record programmed shows? There are all these PC “power” options (turn off monitor, turn off hard disks, system standby, etc.) – are there some that need to be set to “never” in order for Sage to be able to wake the computer up?

I finally got it running last night around bedtime, and set a few shows to record in the middle of the night just to test it – and none recorded. Maybe it was for another reason, but I suspect it was a “sleep/ hibernate/ turn off” issue. ...although the thing was working when I got up this morning, so I suppose it was "awake" at that point.... ideas, anyone?

2) I’m coming from Tivo and I am still new to the whole “scroll bar” graphic at the bottom of the screen, in relation to Tivo's scroll bar. What I have not had time to fully investigate is when shows automatically record as you watch them, do you have options (as with Tivo) to just switch tuners, rather than switching channels within a single tuner? In other words, on Tivo, you can change channels and the Tivo starts recording the new channel from the time you get there, but you can also change tuners, which allows the other tuner to continue recording on that previous channel (so that you can jump back and forth between two shows and have a window of recorded stuff to FF/REW through)... to clarify, I am not talking about shows that are actually being recorded to be saved - just the fact that the shows all record as you have them on. So... how does Sage handle this? It seemed like – and again, this might just be my unfamiliarity with the Sage scroll bar – that every time I changed the channel, it was always within one tuner, and I lost whatever I had been “recording” while watching the previous channel.

I hope this makes sense – perhaps another user who came from Tivo can help?

1) I leave my server running 24/7, so I don't have any advice on power management.

2) You don't control tuners in Sage. You tell Sage which programs you want to watch or record, and it manages the tuners automatically behind the scenes. If you switch away from a live TV program for any reason (changing the channel, starting playback of a recording, or whatever), that tells Sage you're no longer interested in watching that program, so it stops recording it and frees up that tuner for other uses (such as tuning in a different channel). If you want the show to continue recording when you switch away from it, mark it for recording. Then Sage will allocate a different tuner (if one is available) for the next channel you tune in.

Gotcha. Not quite as user-friendly as Tivo, but I'll get used to it, just like I got used to Tivo.
