Tell which tuner made a recording?

I have two HVR-1800s and I think one of them is on the fritz. I've had several -- but not all -- recordings come through with corrupt sections that are rife with digital noise and skip. Some HD and some analog as bad, while some of each are fine.

I'm guessing it may be one of my two tuners making the bad shows, and the other tuner producing the clean recordings. I looked at the recording info but didn't see which tuner created the shows to see if there was a common thread throughout all bad recordings.

I'd rather not disable the good one as a test and ruin the recordings that day.

Is there a place that logs which tuners recorded what?

Or could it be something else?

Nielms www server lists the Encoder used to create each recording. That might be the easiest way to find it out.

The recording info screen should show the "Encoded by" capture device that recorded the show. You can also look at the parallel schedule and you can see which show will record on which capture card...

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm using SageMC. Is that why I don't see this in the info screen?

SageMC only shows a little numbered Icon for each tuner, but there isn't an easy way to correlate an icon number to a specific tuner.

Easist way is to temporarly load the default UI and get the info you need there.

Under SageMC, the icons for the recording with the encoder number seem to match the source setup in the default STV order. The parallel schedule screen is in SageMC, you have to add it to the main menu to access it if you want to see how the schedule is going to record each airing...

Thanks,
Jeff
