Why can't I "watch live tv" with Placeshifter?

Have upgraded to v.6 of SageTV and Placeshifter (6.3.10).
It is spotty at best, but one thing is certain - using a Vista laptop,
I cannot watch live television.
I CAN watch recordings, see pictures, and listen to music. All of these can be done with far less effeciency than with v.5 of the Sage/PS combo.
Any ideas why Placeshifter WON'T allow live TV to be viewed?
All I receive is a black screen with 0 kbps.
I can see live tv on a internal network, but as soon as I'm out on the web, that's where live TV stops. Isn't that the whole point of PS?

What version of Java is SageTV using? If it is older than v1.6 update 4, try updating Java.

You could also check with tech support to see what they suggest.

What kind of video card are you using? Laptop model?

nvidia 8400gs - but if the video card was a concern, why can I watch recorded material?

Do you have PlaceShifter set to use SageTV's dynamic streaming system, or did you manually specify the encoding parameters (or disable transcoding)? Have you tried reinstalling PlaceShifter?

I think part of the problem is how Placeshifter relates to Vista.
It won't operate under Aero, which is Vista's main graphic interface.
Placeshifter needs to be updated specifically for Vista
