Java update on WHS version of Sage?

My new WHS install is still on the "1.6.0" (exact string from sys info) version of Java, and I don't see a clear way to update it. The last server was on something like "1.6.0_5" Java, and Java would automatically detect and offer to install new updates.

1. Is the WHS version of sage bound to a specific version of Java?
2. Is it possible, or safe, to update the version of Java used by the WHS version of Sage?

It's Windows and shouldn't matter. I just did my swing over to WHS this weekend and installed the 1.6.0_5 version and all is well. You can still go to the WHS desktop and through control panel set java to update automatically or do it manually. Just remember to uninstall the previous version.

in thesage folder is a java directory (JRE) . that is the java directory unless you install the latest from Sunmicro itself. Personal I found java version that comes with WHS is stable and I dont see a need to upgrade.

I how ever did some testing and renamed the 1.6 jre folder and moved in 1.6.5 and play with sage a bit. but I notced and the wife did, that all of my stx's locked up several times and after 2 hours I restored the original jre folder and so far one of my stx units have only locked up once in the pass 3 weeks since using the 1.6 jre folder.

Let us know how your WHS behaves please.

thanks

Java doesn't come with WHS. Java is installed by the Sage application if it is not found on the server. And it's all from Sun.

when you install sage WHS version, Sage puts a copy of 1.6.0 in the sage directory so there was no need for installing Java to get it up and running for me.

That all that I did and its very stable for me so far.
