Large memory usage on one machine?
I have 2 Sage systems that I admin. I got to thinking about memory usage, and noticed that on one of them, SageTV is using about 50M of RAM, and on the other, it's using about 250M.
The 2 system are in general (might be a few programs different, but both use the default STV), the same, but the one using the 50M RAM, is been running about 5 years or so, and the one using 250M has only been online since last summer. Both are running Sage as a server. Oh, I know the one using 50M has one or 2 addons (auto convert for sure) on it. Is something wrong, or can they be that much difference in RAM usage??? |

Take a look and see what version of java is running on each. Are both versions of Sage the same? Plugins could make a big difference also.

Java,
Both are on 6 5. Plugins: Machine using a lot of RAM: STVi autoaspect_import Machine using little RAM: Auto_Compress.stvi MultiFunctionStop_import.stvi About the only other thing I can think of, is the one using a lot of RAM has my DVD library on it, about 50 or so. Oh, and it's running the lastest Sage, and the one using less RAM is somehow still on 6.3.5. I thought I had them both at the latest. |

Updated on this. I restarted both machines this weekend (the one using the most RAM is 200+ miles away). I also updated the local machine.
As soon as I restarted, both machines were at about the same RAM usage, and that was about 50M or so. Looks like it was because the remote machine just hadn't been restarted in a month or so. So, is this normal, or is there a memory leak somewhere? |
