Crashing

I just loaded the latest version of Placeshifter and upgraded my Sage TV to the latest version (yesterday 4-29-08). I've got Placeshifter on my laptop and it connects to the server and I can do everything but actually watch live TV or recorded shows. Whenever I attempt either of these Sage closes both on the laptop and on the server PC and it stops the server on the server PC.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? The laptop is a new Dell 1525 with 3 gigs of RAM and a 250 gig HD. The shows are recorded from an HD antenna. I've made sure that all the ports needs are set as exceptions in windows firewall on both PCs. I have not done anything to my router because I can't figure out how to access it to make changes.

Thanks for your help.

I don't record in HD, or use the placeshifter much, but I belive that the server must transcode your recordings before streaming them to the placeshifter. I would imagine that it isn't able to keep up with this task.

Try it while you are watching the server CPU to see what happens.

crashing update - Sage won't work on server either

I was able to get the router settings changed by reseting it to default values and reseting all my values. So everything is set up according to Sage, as far as I can tell.

I've found that Sage won't work properly on the server either. When it goes to record a show it crashes the server program. I can play back fine within sage on the server. I still cannot view or play back on the laptop using placeshifter.

If I change the sage settings on the server to not use the separate server service and just use the upgrade sage software then I can record and view on the server but of course I can't use placeshifter at all. What is going on?

Thanks for your help.

Go to Setup->Help->System Information
I'm not familiar with the VBOX 150 HD Tuner but does the install cd has any utilities that will let you record/playback? What I mean is, can you record/playback outside of Sage? It looks to me that your problem is on the recording device driver and not in Sage.

Take one of the tuner cards out and leave it out. Run Sage and do your recordings and see if it still crashes.

I have this exact same problem when using 6.4.3.
It worked ok with 6.3.10, but there were bigger thumbnail problems with that version that 6.4 fixed.
