can't play camcorder m2t file on Extender!!!

I recently purchased a canon Hf100 camcorder (sweet camcorder by the way) but I can't play the m2t files from my camcorder onto sagetv or the extender. These files are AVCHD which is similar to blu-ray specs. Given that these are my own videos, I would love to be able to play these files natively w/o re-encoding them given that there is no issue of copy write infringement or encryption problems.

Can you supply some more details? Does Sage see them at all? Do they play at all? Stuttering? What are the audio specs? Is there any audio at all?

If Sage does not see the file at all you probably have to add the .m2t and .m2ts extensions to the sage.properties files.

Thanks for responding, I did add the m2t and m2ts extension. However I am unable to play the files on the client (which is understandable given that there is no directshow filters to play directly) however I would have liked it to play on the extender given that the sigma chip should be able to decode these files.

I'd email support, maybe you can send them a small clip that they can try. There's more to format support than just audio/video codecs, the container needs to be supported/understood, but it should be doable.

Was this resolved? I am thinking about getting this camcorder and would love to play the clips on HD100.

I'm thinking about this camcorder too, but with the latest Sage beta and firmware, I only get choppy playback of sample m2ts clips. Perhaps owners of the camera are having better luck (I don't know the source of my clips).

Please keep this post updated. I'm holding off buying a HD camcorder until somebody verifies one of them works with the Sage extender.

I pulled the trigger and ordered it since we have are expecting "happy news" in our family. I found some other thread that mentioned that you can remix the video to mkv container and it plays. I have just decided that it is more important for me to capture the moments I would otherwise miss and worry about playing them later. When HD extender came up it didn't played MiniDV tape dumps either, but once I asked them for it, they added it very quickly. Once I have the camcorder and recordings I can start bothering them about adding the support. It seems to be one of the most popular camcorders out there right now.

The .m2t files from my Sony HDR-HC7 play just fine over the HD100 extender. Hope that helps in some way.

Hmm my .m2ts plays fine on a client but not on the HD100. Latest beta firmware.

Upon further review: the m2t file generated by my sony contains HD mpeg2 video, not AVC as I first thought - sorry. Maybe that narrows the issue down to the specifics of the AVC video format used by the specific camcorders in question here and not the m2t container? Either way, good luck with your issue.

I have tested today my newly arrived Canon Vixia HF100. The files on the card are recorded as .mts and when I import them to the computer they have extension .m2ts. I copied both files to Sage server even though they seems to be identical. I had to add these two extensions to Sage.properties to make Sage recognize them.

Tested with 6.4.4 & 6.4.5
Placeshifter displays correct thumbnail for each file, but when I play it I have only sound and no picture. (I have other applications that play the file correctly.)
The HD extender with the the 2 latest beta firmwares displays correct thumbnail for each file, but when I play it I have neither sound nor picture.

I will be submitting bug/feature request as soon as I take some sample I can provide to them.

Great job! I can't play files from my Canon HF10 either. Not on HD-100 or placeshifter. With 6.4.4 they were playing fine over a sage client though.

Have you submitted a sample to support yet? I just ordered one of these cameras and my wife is going to be disappointed if we can't play the clips on the HD100.

No problem, I understand how crazy things can get, I have a 1yo and 3yo at home.

My camera is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I'll definitely be sending some sample clips to support as well.

Congrats on the new additions your family!

Any word on this from people getting normal amounts of sleep? I'm really interested in the new HF11 and easy playback in Sage would be pretty important.

So far, nothing has changed. Even the latest HD100 firmware hasn't made a difference, all I get is a black screen. I just uploaded a sample clip from my camera (HF100) to support today though. I really hope they can get the extender to play it back.

But I highly recommend the camera, the video quality (compared to my SD MiniDV camera) is amazing!

The same here (latest firmware and 6.4.7) even though 6.4.7 should support .m2ts. I have also uploaded clip so hopefully it will help.
