SageTV cant view controls/settings via remotely anywhere, program is black

I have a server which I set up sage on. I use remotely anywhere which is like pcanywhere to connect to the sage server pc.

I have been using remotely anywhere for a few years with no issues but when I pull up sage in remotely anywhere the window where sage should display in is black. I could have the pc up with 10 programs running under 10 windows everything works but sage.

RA supports both a java and activex viewer. Both have this problem.

The only way I can view sage is via the HTML viewer but the html viewer is weak since it only reloads the pages on a mouse click

I dont need to view any recorded content, I just wanted to be able to get to setup.

It might not be a big deal now as I just got a media extender and I can get to setup there but I figured I would ask.

Anyone have this issue? Is there is some display or sage setting I am missing that that fix this.

Most of the remote access programs, including the one built into Windows XP do not transmit video due to the bandwith constraints and lag.

The other option would be to use placeshifter on the remote computer. Since you have an extender you already have a valid license. That would let you access the Sage settings as well, it's basically remote access for Sage.

I am not looking to transmit the video.. However as a point of reference I can view my camera software over remotely anywhere.

I am just trying to view the setup screens. Using my mouse to play with the setup is faster then using the remote.

Can I use my license from my entender to connect from a remote PC for setup purposes? I dont want/need to view video on the computer as my TV is with extended is two feet away.

I didnt want to buy a client license just to run setup.

As mentioned above use placeshifter. The license for your extender is usable on any extender or placeshifter. You can only use it on one device at a time. So fire up placeshifter on a PC and mouse around setup all you want.

I use Hamachi and RealVNC and able to see all but the video screen. Not sure why you can't.

I normally use Placeshifter, but sometimes I'm already on the machine doing "windoze" stuff, so just open the local copy of Sage on the server. Like I said, this setup has always worked fine for the settings type work.

I believe if you disable the mirror driver in the settings then you'll be able to control and see the menus. At least it does for me in LogMeIn.

BTW, I believe this is most likely due to using VMR9 and or Full Screen Exclusive mode in Sage that prevents it from displaying in certain remote environments.
