Is HD100 Capable of passthrough of new Audio formats?

The product description of the HD100 says:

Audio format suppported: MP2, MP3, AAC, WMA, Vorbis (stereo only), AC3 (stereo down-mix/pass-through), FLAC, DTS (pass-through)

I have several questions...what does the HD100 do if the audio stream is one of the new HD formats (e.g. TrueHD, DTSHD etc).

Does it:

1) nothing just ignores
2) passthrough HDMI so that a capable receiver can decode
3) convert to some other format it can handle e.g. AC3

My guess is that 1)...but I have another question...if it can't do 2 and 3, is this a HW limitation that we will have to wait for the HD200 or can we expect the HD100 to add capabilities for advanced audio through future firmware updates?
