Power button suspend issue

I am evaluating SageTV and have configured my system to use the SageTV service to handle the recording side of things. I have set my PC to enter the S3 suspend to RAM mode when nothing is happening and have observed Sage waking up correctly to record and then go back to sleep.

Then it occurred to me to press the power button (on the front of the case) which has been set in the BIOS to enter the S3 state if briefly pressed. This also works, but if Sage happens to be recording at the time, the system will still suspend and thus the recording will be missing a chunk.

What I am wondering is this: is there a way to configure things so that pressing the power button (or perhaps the sleep button on a keyboard) will only cause the computer to enter the suspend state if the SageTV service is not currently recording?

I don't think so, when telling the system to go to sleep it overrides SageTVs request to stay up. Why do you need to use the the button? The system should sleep on its own when no recordings are in progress.

You can configure the button on the PC within control panel to not do anything when pressed. Then, leave the PC to go to standby when idle like you've done
