Problems after Generating Thumbnails

I recently attempted to create thumbnails for the 130,000+ images in my import folders. The process went quickly at first, but started to get slower and slower. At approximately the 4,000 point it ground to a halt completely and SageTV crashed with Task Manager showing the application as "Not Responding".

Since then, the program has been almost unusable when attempting to browse the "Photos" category of "Media Center". Navigating video folders is slow but navigating image folders impossible. It keeps doing the same thing; the little animated circle churns, the CPU resources peg at 50% (100% of one core) then the circle freezes and the program hangs.

I have tried removing the "Media Center Import Directories", manually deleting what thumbnails were created, re-adding the folders then "Refreshing the Imported Media" and have even tried importing only video files, but still the program hangs whenever I hit the "Photos" option.

Can anyone think of a fix? As far as I can tell, Sage is still auto-generating thumbnails for the video folders, which perhaps is what's slowing things down in the "Video" category, but I've no idea what's up with the images.

For that many imported files, try increasing the max Java heap size on the server. See this post for info on how to do that.

Thank you Andy, I'll give that a try. The system has 8GB of RAM so I should have plenty to spare.
