Windows screensaver not starting, believe Sage is to blame

I have a problem where after using Sage and then sleeping it, my Windows screensaver will never start. This is important because I have it start after 5 minutes and use this as a way to lock the computer. I went through an official support request, and they looked at my logs and determined that Sage is doing nothing wrong, and the screensaver still doesn't start even after fully closing Sage, so they determined Sage is not the cause. Despite the screensaver not working even after closing the program, I still believe Sage could be the issue, since the problem NEVER occurs until after I watch TV and then sleep it. Maybe it's disabling my screensaver somehow for that entire Windows session? Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? If another program is causing it, I don't know how to start looking into that, nothing is really suspect.

I'm having the same problem with Placeshifter on my Vista machine. On my last install it didn't happen but I recently reinstalled on a new hard drive and that's when the trouble began. I don't leave placeshifter open, I close it after i'm done watching my show and the screensaver never comes on until I open the screensaver options screen in control panel and change the screensaver and then change it back and apply.
