Sage showing the Circle of Death everytime I tune to a channel

Hey,

I'm using Vista 32 bit, I had problems with my hard drive so I reformatted and reinstalled Vista, and now everytime I switch the channel it ALWAYS shows the stupid circle, and thus takes way more time than it used to! Is there some things I can check to speed these things up?

I've applied the Heap Size, Numbuffers and Buffersize tweaks already!

Did you install Vista SP1? Did you install all the Vista updates? Did you install the latest version of java? 1.6.0_07? Latest Vista drivers for video and tuner cards?

I'd check the event log just in case there are lingering disk issues. Are the resources accessed via a UNC path i.e. "\\server\sharepath"?

Mick.

Could you please tell me where to look for the event log, I don't know where it is. And secondly NO to the server stuff this is an actual PC client sitting in my living room connected to the PC, so its not a server, its accessing directly through Hard Disk and tuner.

What are your hardware specifiications (CPU, memory, etc)? Are you using 64K block size for your video storage?

You can view the Windows event viewer by clicking start/run and typing eventvwr.msc

You should also see an icon for it in the Administrative Tools group though that's not visible by default iirc.

The attached graphic shows event entries for a recent(ish) disk problem on my htpc.

I have checked the Event Log and NO such error exists.

I have only 1 Drive which is Spinpoint 250 gb. I have it partitioned with 1 paritioned in 64K block, that is which the recording is on.

CPU: Q6600 Quad-core 2.4ghz
Memory: 2 gb OCZ DDR3

Don't know why hardware info is needed when this problem was not there before, it only occurred after reinstalling the OS.

Anything else I can check?
